This update is a little late in coming, but a few weeks ago there was a book launch party for An Unattractive Vampire. It was at Bucket O' Blood Books and Records here in Chicago, a great store for speculative fiction of all sorts. There was wine and vampire themed cupcakes and little cracker snacks with tomatoes and garlic that I didn't partake in because I was nervous and talking to people.
A lot of my friends came out to support me and even a few people who I didn't know. Lots of books were sold, mostly mine though several people I know found themselves completing collections from Bucket O' Blood's bookshelves. So I was happy and the store was happy and my friends were happy. Everyone was happy. Thank you to everyone who came out. It really meant a lot to me.
Also, this happened.
Also there have been a few more good reviews of An Unattractive Vampire. One I was just told about on Netgalley ("An Unattractive Vampire by Jim McDoniel is one damn good book. Never have I laughed so much out loud.") and another from The Warbler ("McDoniel wrote a delightful, funny, irreverent, and poignant book about the absurdity—and inevitability—of evolving mythologies.") I continue to be extremely thankful for all the good reviews. Mostly because I would be pulling my non-existent hair out if they were bad.
SPEAKING OF REVIEWS: if you are reading/have read my book, please remember to post a review of your own up on Amazon. This would seriously help me out as it shows them that this is a book that should be featured more prominently on their website, which then leads to more sales of the book and more success for me and Inkshares and other Inkshares authors and ultimately to more books from all of the above. So yes....go forth and review!
